1. Tuition is a flat monthly fee. Most months have four (4) or five (5) lessons, and on rare occasions, three (3) lessons when in observance of major national holidays.

2. Membership guarantees a regular weekly lesson time with your teacher.

3. Tuition payments are billed monthly 7 days in advance prior to the 1st of the following month, and are due by the 25th of the current month.

4. Membership tuition is billed automatically to your debit or credit card on the 25th of the month prior to the 1st of the following month.

5. All payments are automated using recurring Debit Billing or Credit Card billing. Billing can be set up by logging into our website at mirallesmusic.com/registration or by receiving an email from us at info@mirallesmusic.com.

6. Credit card payment instantly reserves enrollment, otherwise your space is not reserved until payment is received.

7. A $15 late fee will be charged for payments received after the 10th of each month.

8. Lesson spots may be forfeited if tuition is over 2 weeks late. Since all payments are automated, lateness occurs when a payment is declined. Notification of a declined payment will be sent and billing information must be updated promptly through GoCardless/Stripe web portal.

9. Bi-weekly and partial month tuition will be adjusted or prorated.

10. Credit card payments are accepted online through Stripe secure SSL server.

11. Direct Debit billing is accepted online through GoCardless.

12. No refunds, credits or discounts will be given once tuition is paid.

13. Students are responsible for additional costs associated with educational materials, music books, instrument rentals, accessories, etc…

14. We do not accept e-transfers or voided checks.

1. Students are expected to be punctual to their weekly lessons.

2. Students who are late for a lesson cannot be guaranteed their full lesson time.

3. Students more than 5 minutes late for their lesson will not get the full allotted lesson time. Since lessons are scheduled back-to-back, lessons will end at the time the next student’s lesson is scheduled to begin.

4. If your lesson starts late because the instructor’s schedule is running behind, you WILL receive your full lesson or a makeup credit.

Missed Lessons

1. NO tuition credit or refund will be provided for missed lessons.

2. Makeup lesson credits will be issued when a lesson is cancelled with at least 24-hour advance notice by emailing info@mirallesmusic.com, or by requesting a cancellation online through our portal.

3. PLEASE DO NOT TEXT, CALL or EMAIL YOUR TEACHER – Miralles Music administration must have a record of a cancellation for you to receive a makeup credit.

4. If a student cancels with at least 24-hour notice, a makeup can be scheduled in an open time slot through the Miralles Music scheduling portal or by contacting the Miralles Music admin.

5. Cancellations made with less than 24-hour notice will not qualify for a makeup lesson credit (this includes being sick the day of a scheduled lesson) and an online lesson alternative will be offered on condition of an acceptable absence.

6. Makeup lesson credits expire 30 days after membership ends. They can be used to schedule makeup lessons online or by emailing info@mirallesmusic.com, at any time with your teacher or any other Miralles Music teacher (subject to availability).

7. No more than one (1) makeup lesson credits can be pending at any time per membership.

8. If there is no in-person makeup time slot available, your teacher will schedule a virtual zoom lesson or upload a pre-recorded curated lesson and practice plan to your student profile. (Curated lessons include video lessons, music files, courses, helpful links and other assignments and are considered a makeup lesson)

9. Makeup credits have no cash value and cannot be used past the expiration of a lesson membership.

10. Makeup lessons cannot be rescheduled.

11. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis. These cases will include traffic issues and emergencies. Lack of preparation will not be excused. (i.e. Forgetting or scheduling other activities instead of participating in lessons and etc.) Lessons missed due to emergencies will not incur the missed lesson fee.

12. To receive a make-up credit for a cancelled lesson, you must notify us no later than 1:00 PM on the day before the scheduled lesson.

13. When a lesson is rescheduled, the student’s regular time slot and teacher cannot be guaranteed. By choosing to reschedule, families understand that they are forfeiting their original lesson time and may be assigned to a different instructor or time slot, depending on availability.

14. While students may request to book their make-up lesson with their main teacher, our Admin will always prioritize scheduling based on whichever teacher and time slot are available at the time of booking.

15. Make-up lesson credits expire two (2) months after the date of issuance and cannot be used or reinstated beyond that period.

1. The studio is closed between Christmas Eve and New Years Day, Spring Break (the week before Easter), Memorial Day, July 4th (Independence Day), Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving.

2. We do not follow the school calendar for days off.

3. Your teacher may choose to schedule makeup lessons on days that the studio is closed for holidays and breaks.

4. In the event of an inclement weather cancellation, you will be notified of a studio closure. Lessons cancelled due to inclement weather will be held virtually or a curated lesson and practice plan to their account. We will not issue any refund.

5. We do not follow the school districts for inclement weather cancellations.

When a student is away, we refund the unused tuition for that month minus the weekly hold fee. For future months, tuition is adjusted (prorated) based on the weeks missed, and the hold fee is added for each week on hold.

Membership hold fee rates (updated as of 09/12/2025)

30 Minute Membership = $10.00/Week

45 Minute Membership = $15.00/Week

60 Minute Membership = $20.00/Week

We require at least one week's notice for it to be processed by our financial team. We will refund the difference if you are already billed for the current month. In addition, please inform us of the student's return date.

If the student leaves for the summer months (July & August), we require a pre-payment of $100 that will go towards September tuition to secure his/her spot. The deadline is by July 29 of every calendar year. There will be no refunds for Pre-Payments.

Summer hold is only applicable for the months of July and August. Any extension beyond August 31st will require the student to transition to a membership hold. Requests for an extension of summer hold may be considered but are subject to the Director’s approval.

1. Membership may be cancelled by the 15th day of the month by submitting our online cancellation form.

2. Cancellation will be effective as of the month next tuition is due. You may withdraw the cancellation at any time before it takes effect, but your teacher and/or time slot can not be guaranteed.

3. Active membership is mandatory to participate in our events and recitals.

4. All makeup absence passes on your account expire after 30 days from cancellation effective date.

5. Membership is not transferable.

6. Miralles Music Academy does not provide tuition refund under any circumstances.

7. Miralles Music Academy reserves the right to terminate membership, in which case prorated tuition will be refunded.

8. No refund or credit will be given for any cancellations part way through a term for all group lessons and private 1-on-1 lessons at Miralles Music Academy.

9. If, in exceptional circumstances, MMA (Miralles Music Academy) has to cancel the student's lesson due to damage of MMA property or harassment of MMA staff by the student, this may be done with no notice.

1. Overdue accounts can accrue penalties of $30 when overdue for 28 days and $15 for every following 14 day period.

   a) LATE PAYMENT Penalties will be added to accounts that are 28 days in arrears. If the account remains overdue, further penalties will be added every 14 days.

   b) The customer is responsible for any and all charges that their bank may levy for rejecting any payment to MMA (Miralles Music Academy).

2. MMA does reserve the right to fully suspend students from lessons with unpaid term fees during term time. A full suspension means that MMA has the right to fill the students lesson time slot with another student from the waitlist.

3. The customer is responsible for any damages done to the musical instruments, equipment, and/or property of Miralles Music Academy.

Miralles Music Academy is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students.

You assume all risk of injury or harm to the child(ren) or adult(s) associated with participation in musical activities at Miralles Music Academy and agree to release, indemnify, defend and forever discharge Miralles Music Academy and its officers and staff from all liability, claims, demands, damages, costs, and expenses in the unlikely event of injury sustained by your child(ren) or adult student during the course or as a result of their participation in related musical activities.

Unless requested in writing, Miralles Music Academy is granted permission to take photographs/videos of the students to use in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements, and other promotional materials Miralles Music Academy creates. Permission is also hereby granted for Miralles Music Academy to copyright such photographs in its name.

• You may decide to change Instructor or instrument at any time. Just call (587) 855-0809 or email info@mirallesmusic.com and we will work with you to make arrangements as soon as a switch is available.

• If your current Instructor is unable to teach a lesson, a substitute Instructor will be arranged.

• If a substitute cannot be arranged, an Instructor absence credit will be issued to your account (Instructor absence credits do not expire and do not count towards the subscription credit limit).

• Regular class/lesson cancellation policy applies for classes/lessons with substitute Instructor. No MISSED LESSON MAKE-UP CREDIT are issued for last minute substitutions.

• If your regular Instructor becomes unavailable, you will be provided a new Instructor with a similar teaching style, or the opportunity to try and choose a new Instructor.

• Tuition is a flat monthly fee. The monthly tuition amount is averaged out over the year allowing for holidays and breaks. Most months have four (4) or five (5) classes/lessons, and on occasion, fewer. We follow the Fort McMurray Public School Division Calendar for major breaks such as Fall Break, Christmas Break, Spring Break, etc. The averaged tuition makes it easier for you to know that your account will be charged the exact same amount each month.

• Class/Lesson spots may be forfeited if tuition is over 2 weeks late. Since all payments are automated, lateness occurs when a payment is declined. Notification of a declined payment will be sent and billing information must be updated promptly through the Parent/Student Portal on our website.

• MMA Instructors CANNOT accept payments in any form. Upon enrollment a student or guardian/caregiver will be set up with a Parent/Student Portal login. All session fee invoices, payments and lesson details are accessible there.

• PLEASE DO NOT CALL, TEXT or EMAIL YOUR TEACHER - Miralles Music administration must have a record of a cancellation for you to receive a MISSED LESSON MAKE-UP CREDIT.

1. Tuition payments are billed annually, 7 days before the end of your current subscription year. Billing occurs in advance of the new year term and is due by the 25th of the current month, prior to the 1st of the upcoming billing year.

2. Membership tuition is billed automatically to your debit or credit card on the 25th of the current month, prior to the 1st of the upcoming billing year.

3. No refunds for purchases on full payment - multiple visits for 11 months.

4. Full year tuition guarantees you 11 months of lessons. Lessons in August is optional and is not counted towards our annual calendar. The 43 lessons excludes the month of August. Lessons are dependent on our teachers availability.

5. The 43 lessons must be scheduled within the 11 months of our calendar period.

6. Cancellation of annual tuition is effective once you provide a notice of cancellation of lessons with cancellation form filled before the 15th of the month you plan to cancel. You will then attend lessons for the current month and the remaining lessons will be converted into make-up credits. Make-up credits will not expire and can be booked anytime in the future.

7. Teachers have the right to refuse lessons if lessons are not paid.

8. Your teacher can choose to terminate lessons whether they see fit.

9. Membership tuition can be transferable to another person but we require the person’s general information prior to starting lessons.

1. Tuition payments are billed bi-annually, 7 days before the end of your current 6 months subscription. Billing occurs in advance of the next 6-month term and is due by the 25th of the current month, prior to the 1st of the upcoming billing 6 month-term.

2. Membership tuition is billed automatically to your debit or credit card on the 25th of the current month, prior to the 1st of the upcoming billing 6 month term.

3. No refunds for purchases on 6-month term Lessons (Full payment-multiple visits).

4. 6 months tuition guarantees you 6 months of lessons. Lessons in August is optional and is not counted towards our annual calendar. The 24 lessons excludes the month of August. Lessons are dependent on our teachers availability.

5. The 24 lessons must be scheduled within the 6 months of our calendar period.

6. Cancellation of bi-annual tuition is effective once you provide a notice of cancellation of lessons with cancellation form filled before the 15th of the month you plan to cancel. You will then attend lessons for the current month and the remaining lessons will be converted into make-up credits. Make-up credits will not expire and can be booked anytime in the future.

7. Teachers have the right to refuse lessons if lessons are not paid.

8. Your teacher can choose to terminate lessons whether they see fit.

9. Membership tuition can be transferable to another person but we require the person’s general information prior to starting lessons.

For the safety and security of all students, parents, and staff, the Academy is equipped with CCTV cameras installed throughout the premises. These cameras operate under 24/7 surveillance to ensure a secure and monitored learning environment at all times.  

1. To enhance student learning, the Academy offers the use of VoiceNotes during lessons. This tool allows teachers to record short audio clips summarizing important parts of each lesson—such as practice reminders, feedback, and musical demonstrations. The purpose of collecting these recordings is to support individualized learning by helping students and parents review key points covered in class.

2. The use of VoiceNotes is entirely optional. A separate consent form will be provided if you choose to opt out, and recordings will only be made with prior written permission from a parent or guardian. Parents and students are not obligated to sign, and if they choose to opt out, we will fully respect their decision—no recordings will be made.

3. All approved recordings are used solely for educational purposes and are securely stored in an encrypted system accessible only to authorized Academy staff. If VoiceNotes are processed using an AI tool that operates outside of Canada, parents will be informed of the jurisdiction and the applicable privacy protections before consent is obtained. Rest assured, all recordings are permanently deleted once the AI has finished generating summaries of your child’s lessons.

4. Recordings are maintained and used by the Academy only in accordance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). They will not be shared, distributed, or used publicly without explicit written consent. 

Miralles Music Academy reserves the right to refuse service to any person(s) at any time.

Miralles Music Academy maintains a zero-tolerance policy for any form of harassment or threats—whether verbal, physical, written, or electronic. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Aggressive or abusive language

• Threats (verbal, written, or legal)

• Bullying or intimidation

• Disrespectful behavior towards instructors, staff, or students

• Inappropriate or disruptive communication in person or via email, phone, or social media

Scope
This policy applies to all interactions within the academy, including but not limited to:

• In-person lessons and events

• Online communications

• Performances and recitals

• Any other context involving students, parents, staff, or representatives of the academy

Violation of Policy
If a parent, student, or guardian engages in harassing or threatening behavior, Miralles Music Academy reserves the right to:

• Suspend or terminate lessons without refund

• Involve legal authorities if necessary

We strive to resolve concerns through respectful and constructive dialogue, and we encourage open communication grounded in mutual respect. By enrolling in our programs, all students and guardians agree to uphold this policy.

The Terms and Conditions described above are agreed to upon enrolment and may be changed at any point by Miralles Music Academy without providing notice to the customer. A copy of the Terms and Conditions will always be available on our website and may be emailed to the customer on request.
